Hi, Mike... Welcome to the forum. I believe you are asking about 1 Corinthians 12:3. Paul is giving both a negative and a positive test of inspiration by the Holy Spirit. This truth test is in opposition to the Gentiles, whereas the truth test given by John (1 John 4:2; 5:1) is in opposition to false prophets. Only by the prior and continual work of the Holy Spirit are men able to submit to the Lordship of the one true, historic, Theonthropos (i.e., God-Man), the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will always acknowledge and declare the true nature of the Son. In Him, Doc |
