2 | What is the Baptism of the Holy Ghost | 1 Cor 12:13 | BradK | 131994 | ||
JN, There may be a variance of opinion on this matter, but I opt for what I believe to be the clearest example, that of 1 Cor. 12:13: "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." The Holy Spirit is the agent that brings us into vital union with Christ at the time we receive Him. I believe there to be only one indwelling of the Holy Spirit. However, we are commanded to be continuosly "filled with the Spirit" in Eph. 5:18. As to being eqipped for Christian service, Eph. 4:11-12 tells us "And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;" I trust this will be of help.
