Just a thought… What is the church? Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. It is; People in a community environment. It is; People worshiping. It is; People loving one another, sharing Christ. It is; People evangelizing. From his book “Spiritual Gifts,” I quote B. E. Underwood. The tendency to drift and to loose certain vital emphases makes it absolutely necessary that there be prophets to speak the Word of God to His church in every age. Who recognizes the prophets when they stare them in the face? I contend that, though perhaps not legally, yet biblically, The Bible Study forum can be classified as a church. Every church needs a Pastor Teacher, a Shepherd. I would like to think that herein we could consider our Lord and Savior as just that; our Shepherd, pastor and teacher of The Bible Study Forum Church over the Internet. Scripturally denominated, believers of the Word. One should pray that our Lord will give us patience to accept the diversity of people in our church, that together we would make up a group strong enough to serve God in any way… Just a thought. George; as I have been a part of this forum for a time I have noticed that some have proven themselves approved. Not causing division, but staying totally focused within context and proving certain teachings to be consistant throughout the word of God. These members have been of great value to me and are rooted, and grounded, and stand firm on the word of God regaurdless of who enters our forum. Post that help me to grow. Answers that help me to answer others. I praise God for them. You will see if you haven't already, the many that enter in through another door, that are not sheep of our fold. Only to cause division and confusion. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. These my friend, I must turn away. This is a great forum, but you asked for my thought and I will reply with all honesty. If I went to a church where people carried on like what happens on here I would pull my hair out and a few of the others also. :) .Lord knows I need what little I have left. 1Corinthians 11:17. Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18. For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. God Bless |

Greetings George, You ask our thoughts on what is the Church? It is; People in a community environment. It is; People worshiping. It is; People loving one another, sharing Christ. It is; People evangelizing. I believe that all of the above would be correct if the "people" described in each context are a group of believers working together as one unit in Christ, in the hope of His promise, having faith in the Word, and having love one for another. 1 Cor 12 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. 12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 24....But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. 1 Cor 13 1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.... 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. These are my thoughts and beliefs. (Including Scripture to support them) -khuck |
