1 | Am I under Jewish Law? | Rom 8:4 | flinkywood | 135753 | ||
Reighnskye, Let me try to answer your opening question. “…You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Mat 19:19) "The commandments, 'You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,' and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Rom 13:9-10) In a sense, Jesus reintroduces us to the importance of the Law and its Spirit in Himself. He commands us to fulfill the Law by loving our neighbor as ourself. The only way to do this is through Him (John 15.5). Insofar as we are under the Law in Him, we are also given the Grace to do the Law in Him. This is Paul’s meaning in Romans 2:13: “For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.” Following Christ involves keeping the Commandments.
