1 | Am I under Jewish Law? | Rom 8:4 | DocTrinsograce | 135698
Greatest attribute of God is not love. It is holiness... if there is no moral law, than how can be no holiness? Furthermore, you forget the words of our Lord Jesus when He said, "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." (John 15:10). I've advised you before, and will continue to do so: You need to familiarize yourself with antinomianism. That is the theological position you are taking, although you haven't yet articulated its strongest arguments. |

3 | Am I under Jewish Law? | Rom 8:4 | Reighnskye | 135719
Colin, You stated: "how is God's greatest attribute not love, but holiness?" Exactly. Sounds quite a bit like personal conjecture. - 1 John 4 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19 We love, because He first loved us. 20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. 6 | Am I under Jewish Law? | Rom 8:4 | flinkywood | 135753
Reighnskye, Let me try to answer your opening question. “…You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Mat 19:19) "The commandments, 'You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,' and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Rom 13:9-10) In a sense, Jesus reintroduces us to the importance of the Law and its Spirit in Himself. He commands us to fulfill the Law by loving our neighbor as ourself. The only way to do this is through Him (John 15.5). Insofar as we are under the Law in Him, we are also given the Grace to do the Law in Him. This is Paul’s meaning in Romans 2:13: “For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified.” Following Christ involves keeping the Commandments.
