1 | More than a Conqueror? | Rom 8:37 | n.sregor | 171929
When the bible says "More than a conqueror" what does it mean? I know this probably doesn't make sense, but like when I say you're more than a human your an individual. Usually if you say you are more than something it means that you are something else. Does that make sense? A conqueror is someone who fights to obtain something. So if you are more than a conqueror what are you?
2 | More than a Conqueror? | Rom 8:37 | mark d seyler | 171930
H n.sregor, This comes from Romans 8:37, "we are more than conquerors". This is translated from the Greek "hupernikeo". Literally, this is "huper" - over, and "nikeo" - conquer, so one might say to "over-conquer". Thayer defines it as "to be more than a conqueror, to gain a surpassing victory". Strong says "to vanquish beyond, that is, gain a decisive victory: - more than conquer." Not to just win, but to win with an overwhelming victory. Kind of what would happen if I shot hoops against the Lakers. They would not only win, they would overwhelmingly win! I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
