1 | what does dead from sin really mean | Rom 6:2 | butterflyangel | 47002
alright...when romans explains we are dead from sin...do you think it is saying when we sin, we are free from it because we are saved and jesus forgives us. or that we are dead from sin because we have stopped the sin we can stop this instance.like, doing drugs and having sex b4 your married and such.because obviously we are all going to sin, noone is perfect. basically i'm trying to establish if i sin, well knowing that i'm sinning and i then feel convicted, but know i may do it again, is that directing me toward hell.
2 | what does dead from sin really mean | Rom 6:2 | bob r. | 47003
Romans 6:2 states that we are dead to sin, not from sin. On the one hand, it may simply mean that because of sin we must experience death. The wages of sin is death. Rom 6:23. In a broader sense I believe that it may also mean that as a Christian I no longer sin intentionally. By this I mean, I no longer commit those sins that require planning on my part. Most sinning requires some planning; adultery, theft, drugs etc. All the while I am planning, I'm pushing God away. Actually, I don't push God away, but what I'm doing is turning my back on God and walking away from Him. Without God we are dead spiritually. Again we are dead to sin. I can receive forgiveness by returning to God and asking for it, but I must have true repentance in my heart. If I persist in committing this sin, I will find it harder and harder to come back to God for forgivness. I have to ask myself just how sincere is my repentance if I keep going back? Prov 26:11 - A dog returneth to his own vomit. Rev 22:14-15 Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I am not speaking about sin we commit spontaneously. I may hit my thumb with a hammer and curse. I didn't plan it. I may lose my temper. I didn't plan that. I may offend someone without intending. etc. I hope this answer helps and I do not mean to offend in any way. God bless you. Bob R. |
