1 | can she be baptized? | Rom 5:8 | brother ray | 196983
I still believe this lady has a right to be baptized. Salvation is an individual thing. we cannot be saved by our father/mother, or anyone else. this lady has repented of her sins, (Ro. 8:1) she is a believer, a sister in Christ Jesus, who are we to deny her what Christ himself has commanded us to do when saved (Mt. 28:19). we often times are quick to judge, and condemn. Lets let God who is still on His Throne be God. 1 Peter 3:1 "Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives". one final thing 2 Peter 3:9 states (its in the Bible) "...but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance". He is still in the salvation business, even after the rapture, many will be saved. the churches position is not to separate the family but rather to keep them together. |

2 | can she be baptized? | Rom 5:8 | Val | 196992
The text that you quoted is to wives. My understanding is that she is not married. Many unhappy women have lived lives with men who never came to faith in Christ thinking when they married them they could change them or persuade Christ to change them. There are no guarantees in this life. Christ died for our sins. Since sin is so bad that the Saviour gave His life because of sin, would it be somehow leading this women astray if you baptize her and tell her it is alright to continue living in sin with this unbelieving man? Sometimes the wrong road starts with people marrying someone who is wrong for them. They later divorce saying I should not have married them in the first place. Did not John the Baptist tell people to bring fruits in keeping with repentance? Matt 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Matt 3:8 "Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance; 2 Matt 5:20 "For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 2 1 Cor 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 3 1 Cor 15:33 Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals." Ask the Lord for wisdom in what you should do and He will surely advise you. Maybe you should turn this matter over to the pastor who is not so emotionally involved as you seem to be. James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. As to keeping the family together. The family is not deity. Many murders have come within families because they did not deal with sin. Matt 10:33 "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. Matt 10:34 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. Matt 10:35 "For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; Matt 10:36 and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD. Matt 10:37 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. Matt 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. There is a cost to following the Lord. We are told to count the cost. Maybe that would be the place to start. Luke 14:28 "For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? |
