1 | When does God forgive me? | Rom 3:1 | jaccal2000 | 79013
When does God forgive my sins? Some perspectives I've heard on forgiveness: a. Obey God, do good to others, live a moral life, then God signs for our pardon; b. Simply repent, confess, believe, come home to God, then He signs for our pardon; c. At the cross Christ already signed for our pardon with His blood while we were yet unpenitent sinners. He invites us to repent and return to Him not in order to be forgiven (for He already has) but in order to personally experience and benefit from what He has legally accomplished for all people through His death. Does God change from unforgiving to forgiving when we repent? or has He forgiven us even prior to our repentance? Do acts of repentance, confession and faith change God? or do they change us? I usually hear and read about perspectives A and B. But I feel drawn with perspective C. It seems to be in harmony with the spirit of Isaiah 44:22 where it says, "I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you." What are your thoughts? |

2 | When does God forgive me? | Rom 3:1 | gracefull | 79014
C. Hebrews 10:12 But this man (Jesus), after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Jesus the Messiah died once for all sin, thus opening the dorr for whosoever will.. Romans 8 tells us that through Jesus blood we receive His righteousness and are justified (sinless) through faith in His sacrifice. I like this simple but carnal analogy. I was a pauper, and someone in mercy placed a large amount of money in a bank account under my name and came to me and said 'Here is the # to the bank account for all you need to come out of this poverty'. I have a choice. Accept or reject. I would say the forgiveness has been provided for anyone who would choose to accept Jesus Christ. God has not forgiven until we ask in faith. Acts of repentance does not 'change' God. God has established the law of sin and death and the law of Spirit and life. WE CHOOSE John 3 Except a man be born again He cannot see the kingdom of God. 1Peter 1:23 says we are born of incorruptible seed. This is what divides the religious world. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no man cometh to the Father but by Him. God gave His Son Jesus to provide the way, but we must ACCEPT that Way. God bless |
