1 | Reconciling Eph 2:8-9, with Rom 2:6-7. | Rom 2:1 | OldPilgrim | 190030 | ||
I am having a problem reconciling. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Eph 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. With Rom 2:6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":[fn1] Rom 2:7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; Rom 2:8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath, I know that salvation, and the gift of eternal life is not as a result of, "works", but the above verses from Romans seem to contradict this? It seems that Paul might have had in mind the verses bellow. Pro 24:12 If you say, "Surely we did not know this," Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? Psa 62:12 Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work. Thank you. OldPilgrim. |
