Please explain the following verses in light of your previous post: Lev 20:13 Lev 20:15 I Cor 6:9 I Tim 1:10 Jude 1:7 I agree, and Scripture is plain on this, that every believer who is single should live a chaste life, free from sexual immorality. I disagree that a "person is homosexual". Homosexuality is an act of rebellion against God, not a state of being. I think the homosexual lobby has done a very good job of convincing people that "being homosexual" is equal to being heterosexual. Homosexuality is an act of sin, and like all sin it is a perversion of the good, the right, the true. The true way of mankind's sexuality is one man with one woman for life. Homosexuality is a perversion of that truth. By the way, my brother-in-law, who really loved the Lord, was at one time in his life totally caught up in homosexual practices. He was able to break free from the addiction, though he still struggled with temptation from time to time. He went home to be with the Lord four years ago. As to whether or not a person who is practicing rebellion against God should be ordained - I think the answer is fairly obvious, is it not? Should anyone participating in open rebellion against God be ordained? I think not. Chuck |

Chuck, Your scripture verses support my point. Lev 20:13 - homosexual acts are immoral Lev 20:15 - deals with animals - the term homosexual does not relate to people who have sex with animals. I Corr. 6:9 - homosexual offenders - those who practice homosexual acts 1 Tim 1:10 - again those who practice perverted acts Jude 1:7 - again those who practice perversion What I was trying to say is that God creates us all different. A person who is homosexual has a special burden to bear - they are attracted to people of the same sex. What a cross, eh? But, like your brother-in-law, with the help of Christ they can overcome the temptation and live in the light of Christ as long as they do not practice homosexual acts. Do you think God doesn't love them just as much as he loves you? Isn't Jesus' message for everyone? And homosexuality is just one of many sins that a person can fall into. The question was 'Should a homosexual person be able to be ordained?' You could ask the question a different way .. 'Should a sinner be able to be ordained?' And since we are all sinners, what would your answer be then? If only the perfect were called to spread the Gospel, we would not have any ordained ministers. For as far as I know, there was only one perfect person, Jesus, and they nailed him to a tree. Look at Mary Magdalene. She was a whore - caught practicing immoral sexual acts. Yet, Jesus Christ himself called her to be one of his closest friends. Was she still a whore after his call? Yes, but she didn't practice her sin anymore. If a homosexual is called by God to become his messenger as an ordained minister, I don't want to be the one standing here judging them that they are not worthy. Does that make any sense? Or am I really off on this? Johnny |

I agree that we are ALL sinners, saved by grace. My point was in the classification of a person as a "homosexual", as if they have no choice in the matter, that they were created that way. And I don't think Mary was still a "whore" after she repented and changed her way of living. Was a Paul a murderer after he was called on the road to Damascus? Was Peter a traitor after he turned and repented? Was Mark a coward his whole life? I think the answer is no. We should not be labeled by our sinful acts. If we continue in the same sin after repenting, then we need to question whether or not we really have a new nature, or if our confession was just a mental acknowledgement. I say this in light of I John 3:6-10 and other passages. I mean no disrespect to anyone, in fact I think we do disrespect to ourselves and others by labeling each other, as if we can never change. Hope this clarifies what I was trying to say. Chuck |
