In Galatians chapter 2 it discusses that the works of the law don't justify us. Anyone that continues in practicing the laws written in the book of the law is no longer under grace. This book is refering to the law of Moses. The law of Moses contains Gods commandments, statues and judgments. Does this mean that we no longer need to worry about keeping the commandments of God? Or does it mean we no longer need to perform the rituals stated in this book? If so, where does it state in the bible that the works referred to in this chapter refer to only rituals such as circumcision? Remember that verse 10 states "continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law. Also remember that the ten commandments are part of this book. | ||||||

The answer to your question is that Paul was doing away with the whole law of Moses including the ten commandents. These laws were followed without faith in Jesus Christ and no one can be justified without faith in Christ. There was a new covenant established through Christ's death and the shedding of His blood. It is the laws of this new covenant that Christians are to follow and obey in faith. Note what Paul was referring to when speaking of the law of Moses. Gal. 2:3 But not even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. Gal 2:12 For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision. Gal 4:10 You observe days and months and seasons and years. Gal 4:11 I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain. |
