Hi trusting, Remember what the apostle Paul tells us in Romans 15:4, that "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." I think one of the foremost questions we need to ask ourselves is "Do We Worship God For Nothing?" It is absent in much of the popular "theology" today! Yet, notice satan's query in 1:9: "Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing?" As Dr. Jerry Benjamin writes, The book of Job was not written to answer the question, "why do the righteous suffer?" but rather, "why do the righteous worship when they are suffering?" In fact, the purpose of the book is not even to explain suffering, but to reveal God." I see the pinnacle of Job's attitude given in 13:15, "Though He slay me, I will hope in Him." When the Lord is preeminent in our lives, we will trust Him and abide in Him- regardless of our circumstances! Easier said than done, but Job is given as a supreme example.
