Is it ok to drink. I know the bible talks about drinking and getting drunk but is it ok to have a glass of wine once in a while. Smoking pot is also an issue in my family. Everyone thinks it is ok to smoke pot because of health reasons like cancer or just people with a.d.d. or a.d.h.d to get them calm. I feel if I have a glass of wine i am sinning before God. This is a big issue in my family. please guide me | ||||||

Magie: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I know of no family that has not been touched by drugs, divorce, living together before marriage. Each area mentioned above has very hurtful and harmful consequences, with legal, physical and spiritual peoblems. These issues are treated by the general public as no big deal because drugs, divorce and living together are so common. Do Christians get into these sinful traps of satan? All to often pastors hae couples ciming to them wanting to get married, after living together for some length of time. The sad point being some pastors are glad the couple just want to get married and marry them. Frankly, the pastor is in sin for not bring the couple into repentance. The odds of a marriage making it after living together just are not very good. The Bible is very clear that sex outside of being married is adultery, sexual sin. If you are living with your divorced husband it's sin. There are no excuses. You dear friend need to repent and leave asap. Divorce is always because of hardness of heart. There may be many outher factors but someone had a hard heart to begin with. There is nothing about drugs that is legal or has any medical benefit. Pot has been permited but is doubtful it will stay legal in several places. |

Justme, I do not think you will find a passage of scripture that says repentence, sexual purity, or right standing with God is a prerequisite to marriage. Or are unbelievers and sinners not allowed the gift of marriage under God's common grace? If you do find scripture forbidding marriage outside these circumstances, please let me know. Please note: I do think scripture teaches us to repent, be sexualy pure, and to be in right standing with God through Christ. I'm not asking you to prove this. In Christ, Beja |
