1 | how to serve (quantity-wise) at church | Rom 12:7 | azurelaw | 216953 | ||
Should Christians be serving or engaged in one/single ministry/service at church regardless of your gifts, willingness or problem of lacking manpower at church? The reason I ask the question is that my Chinese Bible contains the word "concentrate/single-minded/solely" in the verse; thus attributing both quantity- and quality-wise. Hope I have clearly expressed my question :-) Shalom Azure |

Hi Asure I see that Paul's emphasis is on the persons motive. Having a humble spirit, willing to serve. Not trying to run everything. Rom.12:3,6 3.) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, (not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think); but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4.) For as we have many members in one body, and (all members have not the same office): 6.) (Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us), whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; In answer to your specific question, I don't feel that there is anything wrong in a person filling in positions that are vacant, if they have that gift also, until such a time as the Lord fills that position for the Church. When the Church is in order, the Holy Spirit can then lead the Church, in the right direction. The Holy Spirit will raise up what the Church needs, that your less comely parts, may have more comeliness. The attributing of both quantity, and quality, should be the same understanding here.
