1 | Why was the Holy Spirit delayed? | Acts 8:16 | John Reformed | 86153
Dear Paul, "It would seem that the Spirit wanted make sure that some of the apostles would go to Samaria." I hope you did'nt mean to imply that the Holy Spirit was unsure! Afterall, God knows the end from the beginning and everything in between. Is 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure'; God Bless, John Reformed |

2 | Why was the Holy Spirit delayed? | Acts 8:16 | turnsouth | 86166
Hi John, Of course I didn't mean that the Spirit was unsure. What I meant was that the Spirit wasn't delayed at all. The passage clearly shows that the Word of our Lord reached Samaria before the apostles did: Acts 8:14 "Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John" And knowing of the prejudice that existed between the Jews and the Samaritans, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity for God to get them to start ministering in Samaria. The answer to the indisputable knowledge of our Lord is not only addressed in Isaiah but also (among may others) in Romans: "Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen." (11:33-35) In the Name of Our Lord, Paul |
