1 | Heaven, seconds after death? | Acts 7:59 | Warren F. Kenney | 225165
Why would jesus then give a commandment saying in Matthew 29:16-20 to baptize all nations. also the verse you talked about the man was on a cross and baptism to wash away sins had not been established until after Jesus rose from the grave. how then could he tell this person to do something that had not been established. another thing it says Paradise not heaven. also if we went straight to heaven then that would put away 1 thessolonians 3:15-18 if we went straight to heaven there would be no reason for a second coming. Mark 16:16 says that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved but he that does not believe will be condemned.

Mr. Kenney: I an the one who started this thread. I am pleased that so many have joined in. Mya I bring to your attention that whenever the Scripture says to believe and be baptised, Belief is always listed first. If baptism was requried as equal to believing then there would have been some verses placing equality with the two. The thief on the cross would have been unable to enter Paradise. I clearl see we are saved by Grace, through faith, plus nothing. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. A wery well known verse is John 3:16. The clear message is belief in Jesus Christ. Baptism is never mentioned. I do not want to imply the not being baptised is acceptable. As I understand Jesus teachings, we are to follow His instructions, as an example He was baptised, and genuine believers will not refuse to be baptised. This does not mean baptism is required for Salvation, but rather a outward expression of testifing before other believers you are following the way of Jesus Christ. To add anything more in surrendering to Jesus Christ confessing our sins and asking Jesus to save us, would be a matter of works. We are saved by Jesus alone, by Grace alone, by Faith alone. I am aware there are those who add baptism to be saved, But this is a very serious error. I sincerely hope you will pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show what the Holy Scripture teaches about baptism. justme |
