1 | Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 5:32 | Ray | 63847
The manuscripts differ for this verse. This can be seen by the added *pronoun in the NKJ and KJV. NKJ, Acts 5:32, "And we are *His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him." My question is two-fold. 1) Do you agree with the KJ and NKJ? 2) Is the other witness the Holy Spirit whom God has given; or is the other witness the holy spirit which God has given? 2 | Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 5:32 | Searcher56 | 63882
Scripture ... Acts 2:32, 3:15, 5:30-32, 10:39 ... kai; hJmei'ß ejsmen mavrtureß tw'n rJhmavtwn touvtwn, (Acts 2:32a) Ray, greetings. 1. Even though His aujtovß (autos), is not in the Greek, I wouldn't throw it out. I think it adds understanding. 2. Peter and the other 10, even 119, were not just witnesses for themselves, they were God's witnesses of what happened. They we were for Him, Hope this helps, Searcher |

3 | Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 5:32 | Ray | 63940
Hi Searcher56, I know what you are saying in number 1 and I agree. However, since one can not throw out something that is not there in the Greek may I rephrase that for you? Even though (autos) is not in [all manuscripts] of the Greek, I would still include it in the translation. In your point 2 I did not find the numbers 10 and 119. What are you referring to by these numbers? Also, would you comment on my point 2. Are you open to the idea that the holy spirit is a witness to these things? For example, are you open to the idea that their teaching was of a holy spirit and that it filled Jerusalem? The high priest questioned them, Acts 5:28, "saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man's [NKJ, Man's] blood upon us." (I of course go with the NKJ here, for His authority and His name is as the Son of Man.) If the (Him) of verse 32 refers to the (Him) that they hung on the cross in verse 30; then I believe that we are His witnesses and so also is the holy spirit. From the heart, Ray |

4 | Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 5:32 | Searcher56 | 64023
Ray, There were 11 disciples, or 12 if you add Matthias. There were 120 in the upper room. We know the 11 were witnesses ... and maybe the 120. Yes, the Holy Spirit is a witness ... but we cannot bring Him to court :-) Searcher |

5 | Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Acts 5:32 | gingerbread | 64031
It's Holy Spirit. In reverance to the Holy Trinity. Capitalize anything that refers to God and the Holy Trinity. And there were 12 diciples not 120 in the upper room. |
