This topic has been discussed before ... Vofori, use Quick Search. There is more than one view. I believe that speaking in tongues is a gift of speaking another known language, without studying it, for the benefit of the hearer in their native tongue (1 Cor 14:22-25). Being filled with the Holy Spirit happens at salvation (Acts 9:17) ... some think we can be filled again (Acts 4:8, Eph 5:18). Searcher |

Searcher, may I applaud? Your views on this subject happen to concur with my own in regard both to speaking in tongues and to being filled with the Holy Spirit, but I am not inclined to take up arms against those who hold differing views on these issues. And the fact that we share similar views is not the occasion for my wish to applaud you. My wish to applaud you stems from your oft-demonstrated ability to say much with few words. Unlike many of my posts and a number of posts by various other users which frequently tend to ramble on and on, yours are in the main remarkably brief and I envy your ability to manage the English language so efficiently. It reminds me of the advice Ben Franklin offered a friend who was given to much rambling and great verbosity: "Take time to write a short letter." You don't need Franklin's advice. I do. --Hank | ||||||
