Christians celebrate the day of Pentecost 7 weeks after Easter. 7 weeks is 49 days plus 1 day is 50 thus the name Pentecost. There was already a Jewish holiday of Pentecost that is 7 weeks after Passover. This was a time of Harvests. Barley would be harvested during Passover and Wheat during Pentecost.
