1 | Are we in the last days? | Acts 2:17 | EdB | 30511
Maroon Kalos gave you some good definitions and cautions. And I think you can see how the Last Days and End Times can get interchanged. Yes we are in the Last days in reference to Joel and yes we are probably moving into the Last Days or End Times. I think 2 Tim. 3:1-6, is very indicative of the last days (in this case End Times) and I think we can all see how our world is changing to fit this definition. 2 Tim. 3:1-6 "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. [2] For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, [3] unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, [4] treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, [5] holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. If nothing else of this we can be sure each day brings us one day closer to the second coming of Jesus!!!!!!! EdB |

2 | Discuss "a form of godliness?" | Acts 2:17 | Mommapbs | 30517
Greetings EdB! How would you define "holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power"? Could this describe a church that places little or no emphasis on corporate prayer? What about fellowships that embrace a cessationist view of the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Looking for some answers . . .Mommapbs
3 | Discuss "a form of godliness?" | Acts 2:17 | EdB | 30528
Mommapbs Yea right I'm going to walk into that one! I think it is more insidious, there are many men in the ministry today that hold the Bible to be little more than good ideas for healthy living, almost an adult Aesop’s fable showing how man should treat his fellow man. I know men in ministry that doesn’t believe in Satan, hold the Book of Revelation to be fiction, doubt the virgin birth and the resurrection.. We also see men and women on TV begging for money. Either God will supply their needs or he isn’t into what their doing. No man of God should have to beg money if he and the ministry is ordained of God. They will quote scripture, ‘God will meet your needs according to his riches in glory’, then they beg. That tells me they don’t believe what they are saying. They call themselves servants of God, but after knowing what many are paid I have little doubt who or what is god in their lives. We see men talking about the power of prayer then organizing a demonstrations to accomplish their goal. Either you believe prayer can change things or you believe you have to assist to change things. Notice most of the time after the things change through demonstrations worst problems show up. We demanded freedom from government intervention in our religion and now our children can be taught chants and false religions but they can’t pray or be taught Christianity. I can see honest disagreement over cessation of the gifts or corporate prayer but I can’t see disagreement over abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, mercy killing, power of prayer, power of scriptures and etc. EdB |
