1 | What language did Jesus speak? | Acts 21:40 | Morant61 | 71383 | ||
Greetings Truthfinder! I was checking out your profile and notice that you are a fellow student of Greek and Hebrew. I was curious about where you studied and how long! I took several years of Greek at Huntington College in Huntington, IN. I also took one year of Hebrew. Unfortunately, I don't use my Hebrew enough, nor have I continued to develop it. So, I can basically read commentaries knowledgeably, but that is about it. However, I do continue to actively learn about and use my Greek. So, I am much more competent with it! :-) I was curious about your profile though, you said that you spend time translating the New Testament Hebrew! To what were you referring? Hi again, I understand that Josephus wrote that Matthew originally wrote Matthew in Hebrew and I have a copy of the New Testament in Hebrew and translate it. The only university study I have completed is with Daniel Sharon with Rice University, Houston, TX. I mainly study what scholars debate concerning certain texts. I do have a question for you though. How do you feel about how bias has played in Bible translation? As you no doubt know, grammatically certain texts can be accurately translated at least a couple of different ways. I will give you an example or two sometime. Truthfinder |

Greetings Truthfinder! Is your Hebrew New Testament a modern text? If I remember correctly, there aren't any extant copies of early Hebrew New Testament texts! Concerning bias, it obviously can be a problem. But, I think it is more of a problem in general with those who attempt to find a more estoric interpretation of a text! :-) We would have to look at some examples to really discuss this issue in much detail. Well, I have to get ready for work, so I need to go! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
