1 | Is There More To This? | Acts 1:8 | jakec2010 | 57043
Is there more to the "expanding sphere" of the reach of the "witnesses" than just the implications of beginning locally, expanding "to the ends of the earth"? That is, was there something more about the histories of the geographical areas Jesus talked about than just the distance issue? Does the question make sense? Thanks, -jb- |

2 | Is There More To This? | Acts 1:8 | Morant61 | 57051
Greetings Jake! I think that there are two answers to your question. 1) First of all, Acts 1:8 provides a framework for the book of Acts itself. In Acts, we see the gospel expanding out from Jerusalem as far as Rome itself. 2) Secondly, Acts 1:8 indicates God's purpose in salvation. If you compare Acts 1:8 with Rom. 9-11, you will see that it has always been God's plan to save Jew and Gentile. It is clear even from the book of Acts that many early Christians did not understand this point. Many felt that salvation was for the Jew alone. Acts 1:8 makes it clear that this was not God's intention. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
