1 | Meaning of noun "witness" in scripture | Acts 1:8 | TheKnute | 213915 | ||
The Greek word for "witnesses" is martus. So many of the witnesses in the early church were killed for their faith, that the English word martyr comes from that Greek word for witnesses. Look at Acts 22:20 (Amp.): "And when the blood of Your witness (martyr) Stephen was shed, I also was personally standing by and consenting and approving and guarding the garments of those who slew him." |
