2 | Accounts of Revival | Acts 10:44 | EdB | 238368 | ||
Actually they are happening but outside the church. Missionaries often have glorious manifestations of the Holy Spirit occur was they preach to the lost and dying world. Street corner evangelist have report similar occurrences. When they report this back to the church most people discount it because the didn't see it. The press sure isn't going to report about it. The problem is because of abuses by unethical people many manifestations that take place within the church are later proven to be faked or not accurately portraying what actually happened. So people are skeptical and doubting about any move of God. Often simply rejecting it as fake before they know for sure. I had friend preaching in Stalingrad Russia right after the fall of the USSR. In fact as he was preaching he was facing a huge red USSR sign on the other side of the stadium. While he was preaching and without him doing anything or suggesting anything he saw a woman get out of a wheelchair and going around behind it and begin pushing the chair. Her male companion also in a chair watched and then did the same thing. Here are two people in Stalingrad Russia in the Military Officers Training stadium pushing their wheelchairs around the running track. When this was noticed by the people in attendance many who knew this couple the place went nuts. The two had be confined to their chairs since birth and had later met and married. That part of their story had made the news years before, so the people knew them and knew their story. When people saw this miracle manifested before them, they rushed forward and begged my friend to stop preaching and lead them to the God that wrought such a miracle in their presence. My friend as a little taken back because he was trying to figure out what had happened. Finally a translator told him the story about the couple. Needless to say they had revival. Missionaries often have similar stories. So yes these great manifestations do happen but they happen to witness Jesus Christ to the people. Not some man claiming a miracle ministry. |
