Hi, Mosa! I could offer you so many Scriptural passages... but this format limits how much material could be posted at any given time... I will offer you some passages for you to read and meditate on... if you would like a personal study on Jesus' Divinity drop me a line at: jcrichtonfs1 at yahoo.com... I would be more than happy to expand on these: Isaiah 7:14 -- Jesus is the Emmanuel/Immanuel which means God-with-us! Isaiah 9:6 -- all the titles given to Jesus, the Word incarnate (John 1:1-14), refer to His Divinity, including "God the Mighty!" In Luke 5:20-21 the Pharisees and scribes spoke the truth as they recognized that only God can forgive our sins; Jesus was allowing them to understand who He is--though they rejected the Truth even when it came out of their own mouths! This same type of situation occurs in John 5:17-18--here the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because it was very clear to them that He made Himself equal to God. Ditto John 10:30-33. John 1:1-3, the Word, Jesus Christ, is with God and He IS God! And Thomas, after his blunder, had nothing more intelligent to do or say but to recognize Christ Jesus as his Lord and God! (John 20:27-28) Jesus did not correct Thomas for calling Him his Lord and God (John 20:29); rather, he stated that blessed are those who not seeing Him still believe in His Divinity! Paul states in various ways that Christ is God; two examples are Romans 9:1-5--where he openly states that Jesus is God, and Galatians 1:11-12--where Paul emphasizes that no man taught him the Gospel; that it was through Jesus' own revelation that he came to truly know God! Now, from the Old Testament we know that there is only one Lord of Glory, Yahweh... yet, Paul now atributes that particular title to Jesus! (1 Corinthians 2:7-8) I could go on, but I think that these passages should be enough to get you started on your own personal study of Scripture... avail yourself of a good study Bible with built-in concordance (or get a separate Bible concordance) so that you can cross-reference Scripture from the Old and New Testaments... open your heart and mind to the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 26) so that He may lead you to the total Truth (1 John 5:12, 20). God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Angel - A very fine selection of scriptural attestations to the deity of Christ. Puzzling, isn't it, why some people just don't get it? Or don't want to. Odd too how some sects and cults affirm that Scripture is the word of God yet deny Christ's deity. If Christ is not God the Son, Scripture is a liar. And if Scripture is the word of God, it follows that God is a liar. The whole matter, Old Testament as well as New Testament, hangs together in perfect unity if Christ is who He says He is. All of it falls apart if Christ is anyone less than God! Belief therefore in the full deity of Jesus Christ is the absolute sine qua non of the Christian faith. Any sect, any cult no matter who they are who deny the full deity of Jesus Christ is by no means and in no measure whatever Christian. Again, Angel, good work. God bless. --Hank | ||||||

Hi, Hank! Thank you for your kind words! "some people just don't get it? Or don't want to" I agree with you 100 percent! I have met quite a few... they go out of their way to learn and recite Scripture... some even call themselves "Christians..." yet they deny the Lord! Their ability to emphasize some of Jesus words (when His words seem to, at least superficially, supports their views), while completely ignoring or rejecting everything else He has said is totally bewildering! They remind me of the Pharisees and Sadducees... they recognized that Jesus claimed to be Divine, and they recongnized that His deeds were indeed of Divine origins, yet they fervently refused to humble themselves to God's revelations! (Matthew 17:5) Sadly, those who reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are being fooled by blind teachers who themselves cannot see that Jesus is God... some even attempt to compartmentalize God into levels of power or authority! These poor souls are as blind as Saul was since they persecute Christ for the sake of serving God! We must pray ardously for their release--it is evident that Satan has them under his power since they can see the Gate but they refuse to enter! God Bless! Angel |
