1 | Man or man? | John 8:40 | Mommapbs | 71787
Greetings Ray! This is a tough one. At first glance I am inclined to say Man, for Jesus is the God-man. Without the distinction of caplitalization, would one be open to deny or question His divinity? Yet, by using "man" He clearly identifies with us and we can clearly see His sinlessness as an acceptable substitutionary sacrifice! Just some thoughts . . . Why does the Amplified capitalize Who? Blessings to you and yours! mommapbs |

2 | Man or man? | John 8:40 | Ray | 119590
Hi mommapbs, I thought I would offer some comparison verses for your consideration. John 8:40, NKJ, "But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a **Man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do." 1 John 5:10, "The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made **Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son." John 8:48, "The Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that **You are a Samaritan and have a demon?" John 8:54, "...of whom you say, "He is our **God." Any thoughts? From the heart, Ray |

3 | Man or man? | John 8:40 | Mommapbs | 119608
Greetings Ray - John 8:40, Jesus is speaking about Himself. He knows who He is, His hearers do not. so John 8:54 reveals this truth. John 8:54 (Why is "whom" not **Whom?)perhaps because Jesus knew their hearts and that they did not believe . . .which brings me to 1 John 5:10 - see the question on this verse that I have posted! Blessings, mommapbs |
