2 | Jewish people, second chance? | John 8:24 | EdB | 140827 | ||
By second chance I take it that you mean a chance after death. The answer is no. If anyone dies rejecting Christ his or her destiny is decided. We see a picture of this in Luke 16:19-31. The rich man died rejecting the need for the Messiah, He is sent to the hot dry place. He cries out about his situation but is told no one can help him. He then desires that someone would warn his brothers of his fate. Again he is told if they reject the prophets they will also reject someone that returned from the grave. Romans 5:12 tells us all have sinned. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" John 8:24 tells us we will die in our sins unless we believe in Christ. "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." Matthew 18:3 tells us we must be converted to obtain forgiveness. "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." In the past before Jesus there were people that died looking for their salvation in the Messiah. They knew and confessed they were unrighteous and needed salvation. Those that died before Christ that died in faith looking for a Messiah to save them died and went to Abraham bosom and awaited Jesus to lead them home. It wasn't a second chance they died in faith trusting in a Messiah for their righteousness. Those that died before Christ that depended on their own righteousness died in sin. Today a person makes a decision or accept or reject Jesus once they reject Jesus and died they have no other chance. whether they be Jew or Gentile. The fact someone was born a Jew does not automatically sentence him or her to death. There are many Jews that rejected Jesus but later came to the saving knowledge of Him before death and are saved. I expect this will happen in even greater numbers as the "End" draws near. EdB |
