1 | Counting signs in Galilee | John 4:54 | Out of the miry clay | 151916
Because Jesus had performed miraculous signs in Jerusalem prior to this (John 2:23, 3:2), I am wondering why John made a point of counting this as the second sign that Jesus performed in Galilee. John enumerates the miracle at the wedding in Cana and this miracle as the first and second of His miraculous signs performed in Galilee. Yet there were many other signs performed in Jerusalem between these two. Does anyone have any insight into why these two were counted and not the others?
2 | Counting signs in Galilee | John 4:54 | Michael Draves | 151927

Moses last plague is the death of the first born and Jesus last sign is the resuscitation of Lazarus and his own resurrection.

Dear Michael, I do not personally have an opinion on this point. Yet, if "the seven signs that count in the Gospel of John till the resurrection show the superiority of Jesus over Moses" is correct, I wonder that this would not have been emphasized in the Gospel of Matthew, which was written to the Hebrews. This point would have been much more important to Matthew's readers than to John's readers. John's readers were not struggling with Judaic questions, but rather with the heresy of the Gnostics.
