Who are the lost sheep of israel? I thought we were to spread the word to all non Christians. Matt10 Jesus is talking to deciples but we are susposed to spread the word. Why did Jesus specify not to go to the gentiles or the smarians? but the lost sheep of Isarel?
2 | Who are the lost sheep of israel? | John 4:22 | BradK | 151310
Hi poetlois, Note the warning in Matt. 10:5. The "lost sheep of the house of Israel" were the Jews. Briefly, Jesus ministry was confined to the Jews- the Nation of Israel. Note John 4:22, "...salvation is of the Jews." Jesus is obviously dealing with a Gentile proselyte. Yet, salvation was exclusively to the Jew- unless one became a proselyte. Conversely, the good news for all of us is given in Eph.2:11-13: "Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." I hope this helps, BradK |
