1 | Born again. Giving or receiving? | John 3:3 | Searcher56 | 101752
Scripture ... Phi 2:12, Eph 2:8-10 .......... Read the context of these passages. An illustration I am working on is based on the first verse and what others have said. Before I received Christ, I had a dire need of a new heart. There was one available for me. Someone had to die, so I could have it. It cost me nothing, yet I had to accept it (put myself on the waiting list). With the new heart, that I received ... I also had the choice to work it out or be a lazy bum, as I was with the old heart. But, I wanted to prove that I had a new heart and my life was changed. Because of my old life, it was natural for me to be lazy ... and there was (is) a struggle because part of me wants to return to it. |

3 | Born again. Giving or receiving? | John 3:3 | Searcher56 | 101906
Scripture ... Romans 10:15-13 ... Someone was sent and they preached (vs 15) ... from my parents and my SS teachers - and becuase they preached, I heard (vs 14c) ... - it took sometime to believe what they preached was true (vs 14b) ... - once I believed, I still had to call on Him (vs 14a) - then when I called, I was saved (vs 13) I felt the Holy Spirit convict me of my sin (John 16:8). It was because of both the Holy Spirit and the preaching I saw my need. |
