1 | The uniqueness of Jesus as God's son | John 3:16 | may-it | 44421
In John 3:16 It states that GOd sent His only begotten son. The word begotten which means the only son from God .However there 's a multitude of verses which seem to tell that God has many, many sons. If Jesus is the only begotten son of God, how come he begotten David, how come Israel is His firstborn or Soloman? I pray that you can enlighten me from this view. God Bless! |

2 | The uniqueness of Jesus as God's son | John 3:16 | Makarios | 44422
Greetings May-it! "..The words "only begotten" do not mean that Christ was created (as the ancient heretic Arius taught), but rather means "unique" or "one of a kind." Reformed scholar Benjamin Warfield comments: "The adjective 'only begotten' conveys the idea, not of derivation and subordination, but of uniqueness and consubstantiality: Jesus is all that God is, and He alone is this." Jesus is the "Son of God" in the sense that He has the same nature as the Father- a divine nature. Whenever Christ claimed to be the Son of God in the New Testament, His Jewish critics tried to stone Him because they correctly understood Him as claiming to be God (see John 5:18)." (1) I pray that this little excerpt aids in clearing up "only begotten Son." Blessings to you, Makarios (1) "The Complete Book of Bible Answers", 1997, Ron Rhodes, Harvest House Publishers |

4 | The uniqueness of Jesus as God's son | John 3:16 | Makarios | 44599
You are welcome, may-it! :-) The Lord has blessed me with a loving family, an excellent job and career, a "reliable" computer, great friendships, and a passion for the Bible, to name a few! And if things did happen to turn for the worst, I would still consider myself "blessed", since I know that I will be with Christ when I die. That is why I wanted the Greek word "makarios" for my Username, since that pretty much says it all (blessed)! Have a most excellent day today! Makarios |

6 | The uniqueness of Jesus as God's son | John 3:16 | Makarios | 44774
Greetings Mychelle! My true name is Nolan E. Keck. I live in northern Indiana, very near South Bend, where we were flooded with rain last night! :-) My 'religion' is Jesus Christ, and to Him I owe my life. I am a Christian young man, being only 26 years old, and I attend a Conservative Mennonite Church, which follows the Anabaptist tradition, but not as strictly as Amish Mennonites do. I love the Lord, and I believe in the authority of the Bible as the Word of God! I have had several good friends in the past who were Seventh Day Adventists. They were excellent people to be with, even though I have lost touch with them. I praise the Lord that He was able to use me to give you some encouragement, and I pray that He will continue to use you as you witness to your Muslim friend. One thing is for certain, when you encounter someone who believes a bit differently than you do, it challenges you to get to the roots of what you do believe, and it helps you to examine more closely where you truly stand. Blessings to you! Makarios |
