1 | John 20:22 does it represent salvation | John 20:22 | ijtruman | 73207 | ||
In certain Pentacostal groups...this verse relates to salvation for the disciples...then in Acts 2:4 it relates to a second definite work of grace...my question is that the Holy Spirit had not come...Jesus had not been exalted...was Jesus breathing on them old testament or new testament? Thomas was not present,and in Acts 1;6 the disciples were still looking for an earthly kingdom for Israel...what is the evangelical position on this verse? |

Scripture ... Acts 2:4 ... "And they were all FILLED with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance." Being filled is not the same as receiving (being indwelt). Indwell ... Oikeo (Strong's 3611) Rom 8:9, 11; 1 Co 3:16 Filled ... Pletho (Strong's 4130) Pleroo (Strong's 4137) Act 2:4, 4:8, 31, 9:17, 13:9, 52; Eph 5:18 Satan filled Ananias' heart (Act 5:3) So with all this we are indwelt once, when we are saved. But, we can be filled more than once ... but hopefully we remain filled. This my view ... read the other posts for this verse and Acts 2:4. Searcher |
