how did John the Baptist know about baptism, are here earlier references to it, as Noah and the flood, or is it a gimme that it was a revelation to John from God? He was doing baptisms prior to Jesus approaching him, even tho John was doinfg it to reveal Jesus to the Isrealites. | ||||||

Hi there, I found this web page. I know nothing about the author, but it does address your interesting question. http://www.keyway.ca/htm2003/20031106.htm Interesting that someone sent John to baptize with water - John 1:33 Maybe this is the origin of baptism as we know it. Maybe God sent John and, there and then, started baptism. |

Hi, danosono... I'm always cautious when a Bible teacher's website doesn't have a clear statement of faith. When people aren't forthcoming about summarizing their beliefs, you have to be careful that they aren't pushing heterodoxy somewhere along the line. It just raises questions about their character along with their beliefs. So be careful not to depend too much on everything you find on the Internet. In Him, Doc |
