The Gospel of John does not record the transfiguration of Jesus (Mark 9:2-10; Matt 17:1-9; Luke 9:28-36) yet is this what John is referring to in this verse when he states: "We saw His glory?" |

Greetings Emmaus! It is amazing to me that although John was there on the mountain, he did not include the account of the transfiguration in his Gospel. Any thoughts about this? mommapbs |

4 | No trnsfiguration account in John? | John 1:14 | Emmaus | 119401
Mommaps, John's was very different from the Synoptic Gospels. Almost as if he was filling in the blanks from the Synoptics and casting his Gospel in a more theological mold. He also had a unique struction build around the Feast days of the Jewish Liturgigal calendar. Exactly why he did not include the Transfiguration I don't know. He also did not have any apocalyptic passages in his Gospel like the ones in Matt 24-25. He saved all that for a separate book: Revelation. Emmaus |

5 | No trnsfiguration account in John? | John 1:14 | Mommapbs | 119403
Thanks for the info Emmaus. Can you elaborate about the feast days or point me to a site? mommapbs PS: I wonder is the fact that he had fallen asleep (recorded in Luke 9:32) had anything to do with this?! It is interesting to note that the account of the disciples (Peter, James and John) falling asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane is also NOT recorded by John! |

6 | No trnsfiguration account in John? | John 1:14 | Emmaus | 119423
Mommapbs, The most obvious divison of John is this: I. Prologue (1:1-18) II. The Book of Signs (1:19-12:50) III. The Book of Glory (13:1-20:31) IV. Epilogue: The Post Resurrection Appearances in Galilee(21:1-25) Here are the Feast Days He attended: Passover (2:14) Pentecost (5:1, 45-46) about Moses giving the Law and/or Passover/Unleavend Bread (6:4) Tabernacles or Booths (7:2,37 Dedication - Hanukka (10:22) Unleavened Bread/Passover (12:1-19:43) Interesting point about the two incidents of falling asleep.
