Hi sweet, It sounds to me like you have a good understanding here. There are three "Spirit of truth" occurances in John 14:17-John 16:13. Personally, right now, I go with "Spirit of Truth". And for the verse that I am answering you with I include one more pronoun; which I think you will agree with because of what you have written here. Namely that the Spirit will return and dwell in us when we know Him. When we know Him we know that Christ is in us, the hope of glory. We will know that Jesus is God and He is in His Father and we are in Him, and He is in us. John 14:23, "Jesus answered and said to him, 'If anyone loves Me, he will keep (My) word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him." So, although they are separate Persons we always have to keep in mind John 10:30, "I and the Father are one." You might contrast that with John 14:1, "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me." John 10:30 can also be compared to 14:16, "will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever." 1) Here is my interpretation of John 14:17 for what it is worth. John 14:17, "that is the Spirit/ of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know (Him), but you know Him because He abides with you and *He will be in you." Jesus came as a Man but He will be in you as Spirit. Keep up your fine study of a good book for it will help you to know (Him). From the heart, Ray |
