Why does John the apostle refer to himself as the "apostle whom Jesus loved" in his writings, does that mean that Jesus loved John more than all the other apostles? | ||||||

We are not told why John spoke of himself that way. One can only imagine however. When we think of the price that Christ paid, He gave His own life so that we can be saved we all can say we are the child that Jesus loved. Really seeing clearly the cross and what Christ did for us to cleanse us of our sins is humbling. It is not that Jesus loved John more that the others. Perhaps it is John's way of showing his gratitude for what Christ has done for him. John was in Christ's inner circle so they must have been particurally close. John 13:23. Do a lookup on the word love in the New Testament. This is how I found the verse. You learn so much when you do word studies. | ||||||
