Is Mary Magdelena the same lady that the Pharisis tried to have stoned to death and Jesus said let the first one with out sin cast the first stone? I have heard they are not the same women, that Mary M was NOT a prostitue at all - a lie that has been told. The woman in the story was never named I have heard. What do you think?
2 | Is is mary magdelana the stoning story? | Luke 8:2 | Morant61 | 139661
Greetings Charlene56! The woman caught in adultery was never named in Scripture. Mary Magdelene is mentioned 12 times in the New Testament. Here are the verses: 1) Mt. 27:56 - "Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons." 2) Mt. 27:61 - "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb." 3) Mt. 28:1 - "After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb." 4) Mk. 15:40 - "Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome." 5) Mk. 15:47 - "Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid." 6) Mk. 16:1 - "When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body." 7) Mk. 16:9 - "When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons." 8) Lk. 8:2 - "and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out;" 9) Lk. 24:10 - "It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles." 10) Jn. 19:25 - "Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene." 11) Jn. 20:1 - "Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance." 12) John 20:18 - "Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: ‘‘I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her." So, Scripture never says that she was a prostitute. It never says anything about what she did before she was healed by Christ. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

3 | Is is mary magdelana the stoning story? | Luke 8:2 | Hank | 139665
Hi, Tim - The rumor mill about Mary Magdalene never ceases to grind, thanks to such popular farces as "Jesus Christ, Superstar" and "The Da Vinci Code." You'd think people would have the good sense to get their information from the Bible instead of charlatans out to bilk the gullible out of a bundle of easy bucks. ..... The "three wise men" hoax is nearly as bad. That he the magoi were kings, that they were three in number, and that they appeared at the manger scene is a trio of misinformation not substantiated by the biblical record. ..... Oh, well...Merry Christmas, Tim. --Hank
