1 | Should "lost" people come to church? | Luke 5:31 | humility | 218653
Dear fallen4shell, I liken the Kingdom of God unto an Hospital. We, as believers, are God's doctors and nurses. Responsible for the nourishment of the sin-sicked souls around us. Whether they be family members, friends or whoever! Sometimes by a doctor or nurse rubbing shoulder and fellowshipping with a patient, it opens that patients heart and mind toward the things pertaning to good health. They may learn that six to eight glasses of water might be better than eight glasses of soda a day. A patient who recognizes that he's sick and in need of a Physician could easily be nursed into perfect health. Even patients who don't really understand the seriousness of their condition, by having good doctors and nurses as friends is like a man finding treasure hidden in a field. (1 Cor 9:19-27) |

3 | "lost" or "unbeliever" | Luke 5:31 | fallen4shell | 218724
If this question is addressed to me: by "lost" or "unbeliever" I was simply referring to those who do not profess to be Christians. I make no judgement as to the authenticity of another's salvation.
4 | "lost" or "unbeliever" | Luke 5:31 | flinkywood | 218730
I have lifelong friends who are "lost", so I pray for them and their children. Since they knew me when I was lost and acting it, I keep it subtle, which means I try more to live, and less to preach, the Gospel. When they have questions, I respond in ways specific to them. I would certainly invite them to church, because you never know--after all, it happened to a wretch like me.
5 | "lost" or "unbeliever" | Luke 5:31 | fallen4shell | 218731
St. Francis said: "Always preach Christ; use words when necessary." I think alot of times proclaiming Christ throught the way we live is a much more effective approach than trying to "preach at" them and tell them how they ought to live. I sympathize with you and I hope that you are able to let the love of Christ show through you and that your friends are able to come to the knowledge of Him through your life and example. Blessings my friend! As to inviting them to church, I don't contend that it is impossible for a lost person to be led to Christ through coming to church, I just wonder if it is the best way to go about doing things...for either US or THEM. |
