Greetings Jerry54, "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7 [KJV] Here is a bit of commentary on 'swaddling clothes'... "2:7 Swaddling cloths were strips of cloth wrapped around a baby to keep its arms and legs straight. .." (1) "2:7 ... swaddling cloths. Strips of cloth used to bind a baby tightly. It kept the baby from injuring sensitive facial skin and eyes with its own (often sharp) fingernails, and was believed to strengthen the limbs. This is still the custom in some Eastern cultures. The absence of swaddling cloths was a sign of poverty or lack of parental care (Ezek. 16:4). .." (2) I cannot see any Biblical relationship whatsoever with 'swaddling clothes' and the "Festival of Lights" or Jesus being "The Light of the world"..
