1 | How can God (Jesus) increase in wisdom? | Luke 2:52 | John Reformed | 47448
Dear Nate, It would help to know precisely what you believe the Scripture says about the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. How do you define their relationship? Easton's Bible Dictionary Trinity: A word not found in Scripture, but used to express the doctrine of the unity of God as subsisting in three distinct Persons. This word is derived from the Gr. trias, first used by Theophilus (A.D. 168-183), or from the Lat. trinitas, first used by Tertullian (A.D. 220), to express this doctrine. The propositions involved in the doctrine are these: 1. That God is one, and that there is but one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Kings 8:60; Isaiah 44:6; Mark 12:29,32; John 10:30). 2. That the Father is a distinct divine Person distinct from the Son and the Holy Spirit. 3. That Jesus Christ was truly God, and yet was a Person distinct from the Father and theHoly Spirit. 4. That the Holy Spirit is also a distinct divine Person. We are all "Humankind" and in that sense we are all one. But at the same time, we are individual "persons". We see ourselves as distinct creatures, seperate from one another. But in reality we are one organic whole. That is why when Adam sinned we all sinned and that is why we all are found guilty from conception onwards. God could have chosen to save "Humankind" but instead it pleased Him to save some and to pass by the rest. He did not tell us why. He just said "...does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? Jesus came forth from the Father for the pupose of saving His people from their sins. He was not a son of Adam. He was the new Adam. His human nature was derived from Mary but He was begotten of the Holy Spirit. He was not born of the seed of man. Thus, He Is both God and Man. You also have not addressed my statement regarding the dual nature Of Jesus Christ. Thanks, John |

2 | How can God (Jesus) increase in wisdom? | Luke 2:52 | nate2go | 47516
Thanks for your comment. It's been a pleasure discussing this with you but our view don't seem to be doing anything but creating friction between us. I can see that my own understanding of what I believe is creating more of an issue than it should. I guess that's the problem of "man" when he is trying to explain his point of view to another, or trying to convince someone of something they don't agree with. Something always gets lost, or confused, in the process. Therefore I will take the advice of Titus 3:9 and 2 Tim 2:23 which reads: Titus 3:9 "But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless." 2 Tim 2:22-24 "Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. My discussion about this subject is now over, May God bless you in all the works of you hand and have a blessed day! |

3 | How can God (Jesus) increase in wisdom? | Luke 2:52 | John Reformed | 47528
Dear Nate, I was not aware of any "friction" between us. If you felt offended by anything I wrote, believe me it was unintentional. As far as our dicussion is concerned, I do not consider the question of the nature of God to be a foolish controversy. Who we believe Jesus is may make the difference on where you or I spend eternity!!! Mormans claim to believe in Jesus, but they believe Him to be the brother of Lucifer (Satan). They have a different Jesus and unless God opens there eyes they will perish. Feel free to post me anytime you wish. I still do not know who you believe Jesus is.(check out trinity in the quick search) John John |

4 | How can God (Jesus) increase in wisdom? | Luke 2:52 | nate2go | 47544
I believe Jesus is the Christ. The SON of the living God. Who will one day sit at the right hand of the Father, and will rule all the earth as it is written in the bible. I believe He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. I belive Jesus is the true vine, and His Father is the Gardener who will cut off every branch in Him that does not bear fruit. (John 15:1). I believe Christ is the way and the truth, and the life. And that no one can come through the Father except through Him. (John 14:6) I DON'T believe in the triune god theory (I once read that this theory was once a pagan belief). But most of all, I believe the words of Jesus just as they are written. I don't try to give my interpretation of what it means. If Jesus says, "the Father is greater than I", then I believe THAT's what He meant. If he's says, "Only the Father knows, not even the Son knows", then I believe THAT's what He meant. I also believe that you and I can go on, and on, and on, and on, about this subject, and what we believe will still be the same today, tomorrow, and 2 years from now. You wrote, "As far as our dicussion is concerned, I do not consider the question of the nature of God to be a foolish controversy." My answer to that is the nature of God is NOT foolish, but our trying to convince each other of what we believe, is. So let me make this very, very, clear to you so that you are not confused anymore about what I believe. Here goes, "I do NOT believe in the concept of the trinity. And unless the Holy Spirit convinces me other wise (and let me reinterate what I just said, THE HOLY SPIRIT), I will continue to believe that Jesus is just the Son of God, who is loved by the Father, since the beginning of time. Have a blessed day! |

5 | How can God (Jesus) increase in wisdom? | Luke 2:52 | Lionstrong | 47556
Dear Nate, When my Jehovah Witness neighbors deny the deity of Christ by saying he is the SON of God, not God, I explain to them that a son always shares the nature of his father. If a giraffe has a son, will it have the nature of a hippopotamus? If an ape has a son, will it be a dog? If a man has a son, will he have the nature of a bird? Jesus is both the son of man and the Son of God. He has both a true and full human nature and a true and full divine nature. He is truly God and truly man. The Pharisees understood his claim, but because they didn’t believe it was true, they wanted to stone him for blasphemy. And of course, if Jesus' claim to be God’s Son was not true, the Pharisees were right in wanting to put him to death for blasphemy. The Pharisees understood what Jesus meant when he said he was the Son of God, and this is what I try to get my Witness friends to understand. Do you understand Jesus claim to be the Son of God, Nate? John 5:18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. Peace, |
