Greetings chikoo! Matthew and Luke have given us excellent accounts of Jesus' birth and infancy, and we learn a bit about Jesus' childhood (12 years old) in Luke 2:40-51.. However, the only verse in the Bible that addresses Jesus' life from when He was 12 to about 30 is in Luke 2:52, which states that He increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Jesus was fully human and fully God at the same time! He was tempted in every way that we are, and yet He was without sin (Hebrews 4:15). The Bible does not mention that Jesus had a wife, and this fact, as well as the accounts of the Gospels (whenever His earthly family is mentioned), help us to understand that Jesus had never taken a wife. He had never been in love or infatuated with any female, which would also be a form of idolatry. And yet Jesus was without sin! Never was He infatuated, and never did He worship any female with His eyes! These types of thoughts and yearnings had absolutely no mastery whatsoever over Jesus, who knew exactly what He had to accomplish on earth. And nothing, not Satan or all his demons, or even a woman in a red dress, could keep or thwart Jesus from His mission of providing the Way of salvation to the ends of the earth! Jesus was completely chaste, from birth to death, regardless of what is said in the legends of the Knights Templar or on the Discovery Channel. Jesus was never married and He never had a wife. He was never in love with any female, and that was not the focus of Jesus, who was the Greatest and Most Focused individual that this earth had or will ever know. Blessings to you, Makarios |
