1 | What is the "sign to be opposed?" | Luke 2:34 | Mommapbs | 106864
What is the "sign to be opposed?" Is this referencing the response of those as noted in Luke 23:35-59? Does this passage point also to the "sign of Jonah" (Mt 12:38-40) and perhaps refer to the rejection of the Risen Christ by unbelievers today? |

mommapbs The "sign to be opposed" is Jesus on the cross. Jesus hanging from a tree pierced in His side blood running down. The Jews were waiting for a redeemer who would rid them of their conquerors. They wanted a Judge as of old who would set them free from their opressors forever. The picture of their Messiah hanging from a tree would prove to be a stumbling block to them. So it is today. At this time of year it is all right and quite acceptable to talk about the birth of Jesus. The little Lord Jesus in an manger, Mary and Josef oogling their new born. The shepherds looking in awe as the animals speak and the 3 Kings from orient come to bring gifts to the new born King. We can even put this on TV without much objection. BUT do not talk about Jesus' death on the cross. Don't mention that He is the only way to the Father. Keep your mouth shut about salvation is only gained through Him. Talk that way and you will soon find that this "sign" is still the stumbling block it was 2003 years ago. Yes, this does indeed point to the sign of Jonah. Praise God for the Salvation of the Lord. 3 | What is the "sign to be opposed?" | Luke 2:34 | Mommapbs | 106868
Greetings Asis! It has troubled me how "sweet" we make the birth of Christ for it was anything but that for the King of Glory to step into time! In light of this thinking, I wrote this for my Christmas cards this year: The Great Exchange Christmas marks the original episode of “Trading Spaces.” It was over 2000 years ago when God traded the holiness of heaven for the stench of a stable; a white throne for a wooden trough; strains of an angelic chorus for sounds of hungry animals and His Heavenly surroundings for the arms of a teenager. The cost for this exchange was beyond our ability to pay. Why did He want to “trade spaces?” So that a little more than 30 years later He could go to a cross and trade “places” with us! (Romans 6:23; I Peter 2:24) |
