1 | the good theif vs. Jesus going 2 thedead | Luke 23:43 | kimberley37 | 91194 | ||
In Luke 23:40-43 Jesus tells the good theif that he will see Him that day in heaven, but in the Apostle's Creed we say that Jesus decended to the dead or hell...and after He was raised up on the third day, He stayed with them for 50 more days before ascending into Heaven. How do you reconcile those two satements? |

Greetings Kimerley37! If you will note carefully the text of Luke 23:43, Jesus does not say, 'Today, you will be with me in Heaven', but rather, 'Today, you will be with me in paradise'. Many believe that the paradise mentioned in Luke 23:43 is the same as Abraham's bossom in the account of Lazarus and the Rich man. So, Jesus was saying to the thief that he would be with Him in the righteous side of Hades, not Heaven. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
