Jesus’ Spirit was in Paradise. Jesus was preaching to the dead. 1 Peter 4:5 “but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6) For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God." NASB 1 Peter 3:18 "For Christ [the Messiah Himself] died for sins once for all, the Righteous for the unrighteous (the Just for the unjust, the Innocent for the guilty), that He might bring us to God. In His human body He was put to death, but He was made alive in the spirit, 19) In which He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20) [The souls of those] who long before in the days of Noah had been disobedient, when God's patience waited during the building of the ark in which a few [people], actually eight in number, were saved through water. Hi bgg, I think you have a good post here. You have written that Jesus' Spirit was in Paradise. I agree with the NKJ for the 1 Peter 3:18 rendering of "being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit." Jesus had given up His spirit but He was made alive by the Spirit. Do you agree with the NKJ for 1 Peter 3:18? Where you may or may not agree is with my rendering of 1 Peter 4:5, "For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the *Spirit."
