1 | Is accepting Christ as my saviour enough | Luke 23:40 | miketsaved | 71377
In Matthew 3:19-20 it seems to imply that you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven if you have even broken one of the laws. This seems to contradict with all the teachings I have received thus far as a young Christian. I have always been taught that Jesus died for our sins, and accepts us as long as we accept and acknowledge him as our Christ and saviour. Can someone help me with these verses.
2 | Is accepting Christ as my saviour enough | Luke 23:40 | David F | 71378
Hello, just receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior is enough. Look at the thief on the cross. But God has plans for us, to grow us in Him and to be His hand here on earth. So Jesus is all we need! I'm not sure though which scripture you're refering to cause there isn't a Matt.3;19-20.

Scripture ... John 9:36-38, 11:27; Acts 9:42,11:21, 16:31, 18:8; Rom 4:24, 10:9 ... You need Him as Lord. John 20:31; Gal 2:16; 1 John 3:23, 5:1 says believe as Christ ... but that's not enough. |

I can help a some... accepting Christ as just as your savior is not enough.... you must accept Jesus as the Lord of your life. That means you put God's will before your own. He is the Lord of your family life, your finances, your career....everything. He wants us to follow in Christ's footsteps, not just accept that he's the boss. There are several scriptures that address this: Gal 5:19-21... Here, Paul addresses people who are already Christians (they already believed Jesus was the savior).... yet he was warning them that if they continue to live in their sin (if they continue to not have Jesus as their Lord), they will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Another scripture is James 2:14-17 and on.... it talks about Faith without deeds... faith alone is not enough. There is a definite plan of salvation throughout the new testament. If your interested, start reading in Acts, it tells of what happened after Jesus death... it's the account of the first Church and tells what happened when Pentecost came and how baptism (to receive the Holy Spirit) came about (Acts 2:38)... I hope this was helpful... |
