1 | No Wine vs Not Much Wine | Luke 1:15 | DocTrinsograce | 125725
Bishops (presbytos) in 1 Tim 3:3 and Tit 1:7 are not to be given to wine. However, a deacon in 1 Tim 3:8 must not be given to much wine. Likewise, the aged women are not to be given to much wine per Tit 2:3. Do you think there it is significant that an elder must not be given to wine but the others not to MUCH wine?
2 | No Wine vs Not Much Wine | Luke 1:15 | JCrichton | 125726
Hi, Doc! When reading the Old Testament we find that many of God's prophets were separated from amongst the people and even their nutritional intake was restricted. John the Baptist was one of these particular prophets who was not only separated from the people of Israel, but was forbiden to even eat grapes! Bishops, being in charge of the Church have a higher responsibility than deacons. Their standing both within the Church and the community must be exemplary. If they do not drink, ever, there could never be an occasion for both believers and non-believers to denounce them as drunkards and fools! God Bless! Angel |
