2 | 1 Peter 3:19-20. What does it mean? | Luke 17:25 | Jean-Pierre | 49884 | ||
Not an easy passage indeed. I have talked to one of my friend who deli1vered a message on 1 Peter recently. So this is a combination of his view and my undrestanding. So feel free to share your thoughts afterwards. We can help each other. The general ambiance of the passage is Persecution and preaching the word of God without being heard (1 Peter 3:15-16). Christ suffered as is told in 1 Peter 3:18 and Noah apparently was also rejected by his generation (see Luke 17:25-27). Jesus was not born in 0 and dead in 33 or 38. He was at the beginning and trhough him all things were made (John 1:3). Which means He was there at Noah's time and He was preaching to the people through Noah. But the people did not listen and died with the flood. So Jesus had to go and preach to their spirits. |
