Prior to the return of Christ on Earth, where do the deceased go?-- Does the righteous go to Heaven and the non-beleivers and wicked sinners go to Hell? Or is there a different dimension of supernatural existence here on earth where the spirits coincide? | ||||||

I don't know exactly where this place is, but here's a definition: 1) name Hades or Pluto, the god of the lower regions 2) Orcus, the nether world, the realm of the dead 3) later use of this word: the grave, death, hell In Biblical Greek it is associated with Orcus, the infernal regions, a dark and dismal place in the very depths of the earth, the common receptacle of disembodied spirits. Usually Hades is just the abode of the wicked, Luk 16:23, Rev 20:13, 14; a very uncomfortable place. (TDNT) The above definition is from the Blue Letter Bible, which you may Google. And I certainly do not want either myself or anyone I love to go there. It is not a nice place by any means. Also, Matthew Henry's Commentary has a wonderful exposition on this at the following site: www.ccel.org |
