1 | Why the eye? | Luke 11:34 | Mommapbs | 61349
Greetings Aspilos! This passage is not referencing our physical eyes but our ability to see and know the TRUE LIGHT. Consider the audience that Jesus was addressing as you re-read the account. Throughout God's Word, there are many references to Light and darkness. The Light of Life is Jesus.(See John 1:4, 8:12) Use the search feature to see more on light and darkness. As I read the entire passage in Luke, Jesus is the Lamp that all men will "see." Yet, how they respond to what they see will determine the condition of the heart. The "eye", as a lamp, reflects what it sees(the Light of Life) to our heart. Cross reference John 12:35-46. I believe Jesus is issuing a warning to unbelief in Luke and declares many woes to the Pharisees (who were "fair, you see"). These, teachers of the Law of God who should have recognized the Truth when they saw it, exchanged it for what they wanted to believe. We see in this account that they sought to test Jesus, demanding a "sign" thus challenging His authority. Suffice it to say, that we too must be careful to observe clearly and not hide the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (as devastating as it may be, it still brings Light to our souls!!)by denial or self deception. "How can the light in you be darkness?" See Eph 5:8-13, 1 John 2:11. I hope that God will minister to your heart as you consider the Truths of His Word. Blessings, Mommapbs |

The Pharisees didn't exactly accept the Lord with open arms. Is is possible too, that he may have seen darkness in the form of hatred in their eyes?
